|
Long before it became public knowledge that Marilyn Monroe's death (on 4th August I962, officially from 'an overdose of barbiturates') may have occurred in 'suspicious' circumstances, spiritual teacher Stephen O'Brien received a poignant communication from her. At her request, he contacted Miss Monroe's USA Management but received no response from them. Marilyn communicated using her real name of Norma Jean Baker

This is Norma Jean - Marilyn - here. I've got something to say. I want to set a few things straight about me and my life. So many people and writers paint me as tragic. Well I wasn't. How can they know these things? The answer is, they can't. They know what makes a good story though, and far too many of them used me for that. So many lies have been told about me...so many. I was a happy person - a little lonely on times, perhaps, but then how else can a person feel when everybody in the world wants a little piece of them? I never had a moment's peace from the media. They hounded me to death. Oh, and that's another sore point - my death. It's been kinda veiled in mystery for a few years, hasn't it? Well, I don't much care now about it. It's gone, and it's the best thing that ever happened to me. But I wish people would stop saying I committed suicide, 'cos I did no such thing. I didn't take my own life, and that's all I'm prepared to say - nothing more. That's all over now. There's something I want to ask of you. I want to say something to the media. I want my memory to generate money for children - kids down the block with no shoes on their feet, and others in the hot countries who don't have any hope, any food, or any love from anyone. It kinda grieves me that a lotta money is made out of my face and name, and though some of it does go to good causes, not all of it does, and I want it to. I know what it is to be unloved, without anyone to care for you; and if any money's being made, then it should go where I want it to. After all, it's my face, my figure, and my pictures that get the stuff in. ...Hold a good thought for me
