'Survival of the consciousness after death 'Do not fear the Dark Angel called Death - for he isn't a Dark Angel at all; he's the Brightest One. Death is painless. It is simply the release of the spirit from the Earthly body. I often think of it as a happy release for, in many cases, it is. 'We "die" every night when we sleep: just as soon as our physical bodies have relaxed, the spirit bodies within them start to loosen and we leave our sleeping forms and can astral travel. But on occasions the spirit body only exteriorises a little way outside the physical - it remains close to it, sleeping. This gives the spirit the chance to absorb the myriad cosmic energies all around it, and channel them naturally to the sleeper. 'Every passing is different, but in each case no pain is involved. Pain belongs only to the physical form - it isn't present in the finer spirit body. The physical body is the pain body, the spirit body is the energy body. 'Sudden deaths, such as accidents, cause many people to go into a state of concussion. Just as the Earthly body is knocked unconscious, so the spirit body suffers from a temporary state of sleep. But this soon corrects itself and consciousness returns. 'But after long protracted illnesses, the passing is taken more gently, and loved ones in the spirit world gather to meet the traveller as he crosses the threshold of death to life. |

'Death doesn't instantly change those who experience it; they are the same people one second after death, as they were one second before it. 'Change, or progression, is always open to any soul, of course, if they choose it. 'The spirit bodies of people in states of coma are usually passing in and out of their physical bodies. As the physical form sleeps, the spirit is released into worlds beyond the Earth. The same applies to persons placed on life-support systems: but if the spirit vacates permanently, then that person has "died" and the body is kept "alive" only in a mechanical sense - it isn't animated by the power of the spirit, but by a machine. |
