The Auric Fields of Man

Q: What is the Aura?

A: The aura is made up of complex sets of high-frequency fields of energy and sensitivity that surround all living and seemingly inanimate things. The auric energies are vibrant electro-magnetic, psychic and spiritual powers, and they are usually perceived clairvoyantly.

Q: Does the aura vibrate?

A: Yes. The atoms of every life-form are in a state of constant vibration, even when something appears to be stationary or at rest. All energy waves disturb the ether surrounding and interpenetrating them, and psychic vision perceives and 'translates' these disturbances as sets of undulating lights and colours.

Q: How does the human aura originate?

A: Souls are Thought into existence by the Mind of the Great Spirit of Consciousness, who bestows upon their bodies, minds and spirits the miraculous power of life. Through the very act of living, souls constantly draw upon the Creative-Energy that is everywhere, and by using it to think and move they transform it into waves of psychic light and colour, which manifest spiritually as the aura.

Q: Do we have only one aura?

A: No, there are several auric fields; but the four main auras of interest to spiritual workers are: the physical aura, the mental aura, the emotional aura, and the spiritual aura.

Q: What does the physical aura look like?

A: If a person is in good health, the physical aura usually appears as a faint blue light which radiates up to about an inch or so in depth all around the body; but there is a slight 'transparent' gap visible between the skin and the start of this aura.

I believe that it was this physical aura which the surgeon Dr Walter John Kilner, of St Thomas's Hospital, London, so painstakingly observed and then catalogued in his book The Human Atmosphere, which was first published around 1911 and is still available today as The Aura*. When a healthy, naked subject is clairvoyantly examined standing against a black velvet curtain, his physical aura resembles millions of feather-like strands of fine, light-blue energy that radiate outwards from the skin. The physical aura is the easiest to discern of the four main auric fields because it vibrates at the lowest psychic frequency.

Q: What does the mental aura look like?

A: Biblical writings describe the mental aura as a 'Golden Bowl', but unlike halos that are depicted as crowns of light around the heads of saints the mental aura is roughly spherical (though it changes shape continuously) and radiates in all directions around the head. Its depth and shades of colour depend upon the mental and spiritual development of its creator.

Q: What type of information is held in the mental auric field?

A: All the memories and thoughts you have ever had are either displayed or stored within your mental auric field - and these could well include information gained from past lives, or perhaps even details of facts gleaned from your soul's future incarnations.

Q: What part of Man is responsible for emanating the emotional aura?

A: The emotional aura of physical man is created by the psychic power of his mind, and radiated into the physical world by his central nervous system. Man's nervous-system is a highly complex and interwoven network of sensitive fibres that reach nearly every part of his physical body. Nerves are especially sensitive to feeling; however, they react not only to pain and temperature, but also to the subtle (and sometimes subconscious) thought-patterns created in the mind.

Q: What kind of information is held in the spiritual aura?

A: The true spiritual state of a man's soul is indelibly impressed in his spiritual aura. This aura contains all the knowledge and experiences gained throughout all of your lives - everything is recorded there: even, it is argued, your future. The spiritual aura is said to be the most difficult energy field for clairvoyants to perceive because it vibrates at a very high psychic frequency.

Q: In mediumship, does the spirit world work through the medium's aura?

A: Yes. In all forms of mediumship, including healing and physical manifestations, spirit helpers blend their auric energy-fields with those of their mediums. If the auras of the medium, sitters, and spirit world visitors are vibrating within roughly the same wave-lengths, then the thoughts of each party can be instantly received by the others. It is all a question of attunement.

The quality of a medium's work will always fluctuate - for that is the nature of all mediumship, which is why each service should be viewed as an experiment.

Q: Why are so many sensitives at loggerheads about the meaning of the colours that they perceive within the aura?

A: Each shade of colour in the aura has a specific meaning, but the psychic interpretations vary because so much depends upon the area in which the colour occurs and the talents, knowledge and understanding of the percipient. For example: bright yellow seen in the mental aura would indicate an active, questioning mind; but if the same colour were seen over the solar-plexus in the emotional aura, it would indicate nervousness or a highly-strung nature.

The only way to achieve a standard interpretation of each colour would be to study the impressions of reputable mediums throughout the centuries, and then to correlate their findings.
