Ghosts and Poltergeists |
|
Stephen O'Brien explains the basic differences: Ghosts are not the same as spirit people. When someone sights a ghost, what he is actually seeing is a an 'energy picture' that is 'programmed' into the psychic fields of activity surrounding the very walls and atmosphere of a building. A ghost is not a real spirit person who is making a visitation, it is simply a 'psychic snapshot'. Many 'hauntings' conform to this pattern. Thought-forms of long-dead people, or ghosts (to give them their more popular name), cannot communicate with us in the way that living spirit people can. Ghosts have no conscious personalities. The difference between a ghost and a spirit person can be easily explained: a ghost is a psychic 'picture' of your deceased father, which 'floats' in the atmosphere - whereas a spirit person would be the actual presence of your deceased father, who would be able to communicate with you. Regrettably, many mediums have not mastered the art of recognising the difference between thought-forms and real spirit entities, and therefore their work can confuse investigators. The German word 'Poltergeist' means 'noisy (or troubled) spirit', but most reported poltergeist cases turn out to be unrelated to this activity. There is a great deal of ignorance in the public mind concerning psychic phenomena and when people report the supernormal movement of household objects they often wrongly assume that they are being 'haunted' by a troublesome spirit. The supernormal movement of objects, which is often referred to as Telekinesis, is usually not caused by a poltergeist at all, but by an abundance of natural psychic energies that have been spontaneously projected into the atmosphere by physical people who are living in the house. At puberty, youngsters often quite unconsciously throw off tremendous amounts of psychic energy. Before assuming any poltergeist activity first look for: either a young person who is going through puberty or an extremely tense or unhappy emotional relationship, which can also radiate these powerful psychic energies. Real poltergeists or troubled visitors from the Other World are quite rare phenomena. But whenever a genuine case is found, the anxious spirit person can only move physical objects by drawing on the psychic energies found in the vicinity - and these are usually radiated by physical people or by the psychically-charged atmosphere of the building. |
